Antonelli

Among the longest-lived companies in the appellation, Antonelli San Marco has been owned by the family of the same name since 1881. Composed of 190 hectares in a single corpus in the center of the Montefalco DOCG area, it has made the complete conversion to organic farming since 2009 certified for all productions.
The clayey and limestone-rich soils, with different geological origins, form austere hills surrounded by woods, with an ideal microclimate for vines and olive trees. Ten hectares are dedicated to olive groves, while about 60 are destined to vineyards, mainly facing south and west. We cultivate native varieties: Grechetto and Trebbiano Spoletino for the whites, Sangiovese and Sagrantino for the reds.
At the center of the company, just below the old manor house, is the cellar, completely underground and designed for gravity vinification. A structure with a low environmental impact which provides for the entry of the crushed grapes into the fermenters, and the subsequent unloading of the pomace, without the use of pumps, but by gravity, guaranteeing greater control of the first delicate phases of fermentation and maceration, as well as saving of energy resources.
