The former is immense, a sensitive colossus with a "sweet smile," as tall as the giant Lazarus of Schwendi, sculpted in Vosges sandstone and standing in the wall of the Kientzheim church. Passionate about human relations, Philippe speaks for Alsace and the Paul Blanck estate. He is the president of the wine tourism commission of the Vignerons Indépendants de France. A man of few words, Frédéric is president of nothing; he presides over his life, his wines, in the secrecy of his Kientzheim cellar, a little away from the village. When he's not sculpting his Rieslings, he draws curves, leaning over the catlike curve of his motorcycle on the tracks of the speed circuits, with as much precision and concentration, without which it would be the fall. “Making the best wine, always… Anticipation is impossible, but intention is!
