In a territory with an impetuous and magnetic charm, shaped by the fiery energy of the Volcano, the Etna project of the Planeta family comes to life.
Contrada Sciaranuova is the first stop on this journey, on the northern side of Etna, about 850 meters above sea level, nestled between "skiing" dating back to the ten-year eruption of 1614 and lush forests of oak, chestnut and olive groves. In this harsh landscape grow Carricante, Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, the main native varieties of the area, but also Pinot Noir and Riesling, symbols of the company's never-ending desire for knowledge and agronomic experimentation.
Thanks to a careful conservative restoration, even the ancient buildings of the estate come back to life and become the heart of our Etna hospitality. Walking in the external areas of the estate it is easy to come across a small natural amphitheater, the typical lava stone terraces surrounding the vineyards and a site-specific contemporary work of art, named after Ettore Majorana, the fruit of the genius of the artists Clair Fontaine.
