La Jaraba is located on the historical site of the same name, between the municipalities of Villarrobledo and El Provencio, in the heart of La Mancha.
Historical findings of settlements from the Paleolithic era have shown the benefits of this land for agriculture and livestock. Iberians, Romans, Visigoths and Arabs found here a unique enclave to establish their camps.
La Jaraba gets its name from the Arabs who defined it as: “land abundant in water”.
Already at the dawn of the 21st century, the farm changed ownership, which revolutionized the production system and, specifically, recovered and improved the vineyard, olive grove and cattle farm, also building a winery, cheese factory and mill. Converting Pago de La Jaraba into a comprehensive and sustainable agri-food farm, with the clear objective of enhancing the quality of the products for which the farm was once recognized.
As a result of this work, the European Union recognizes La Jaraba as a protected area, granting it the "D.O. Pago", which is the highest quality recognition of a wine in Spain, reflecting the differentiation of the vineyard and deserving of its own Denomination of Origin: "La Jaraba D.O.P.".
