Ricasoli is the largest winery in the Chianti Classico area. Among rolling hills, velvety valleys and dense woods of oak and chestnut trees, the 1200 hectares of property include 240 of vineyards and 20 planted with olive trees, in a continuous succession of colors and shades around the Castle of Brolio, in the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti . The history of the Ricasoli family has been linked to wine since 1141: written testimonies dating back to that date attest that the Castello di Brolio was already in the possession of the family. After centuries engaged in the defense of lands and feudal lordships, they were the first to dedicate themselves to the development of agriculture and vineyards, realizing the great potential of the Brolio area.
